Piers du Pré
Founder and Director
As the Founder of Engage in 1987, Piers has concentrated on Southern Africa since 2014. "It's been an exciting time with more than 30 schools taking Engage in just 3 years." Piers began his professional career as a pilot with BOAC and British Airways. Piers is married to Lin; they have 4 sons, 4 daughters-in-law and 4 grandchildren. Apart from his family and Engage, boating is his passion.
Regional Manager Southern Africa
Jenny was a School Bursar for a number of years before joining Engage. Jenny now brings her knowledge and skills to being in charge of implementation and training. As Regional Manager, Jenny also manages the growing staff at the Johannesburg office.
Southern Africa Support Services Consultant
Lu-Ann previously worked with schools as a marketing consultant and fund raiser where the accuracy of schools' data was key. This knowledge plus her skills as a trainer, makes a perfect combination as an Engage Support Services Consultant.
Peter recently joined Engage in South Africa as a Schools Account Director. Having worked with independent and fee-paying schools in the UK and Internationally for over 30 years, Peter has extensive knowledge of the market and believes strongly in a consultative sales approach.
Born in Johannesburg and educated at Pridwin Prep School, Johannesburg, Mike has over 20 years' experience of delivering complex IT projects in public and private sectors. Mike has led worldwide Engage Implementations since 2011 and has a detailed understanding of the needs of schools and school groups. He is also a keen youth team rugby coach
Chief Technical Officer
Paul joined the team in 2000 as a programmer and rose quickly to manage the development team, the entire technical programme and Engage development plans. Paul engages frequently with schools and school groups to ensure that Engage delivers exactly what is expected.
Software Development Manager
Having joined Double First in 2008 as a web developer tasked with creating the Engage Portal System, Ian became Web Development Team Leader a year later before taking responsibility as Development Manager in 2016. All developers report to Ian and every one of the millions of lines of code in the Engage systems are written by his team.
13 years with the company as a Software Tester and System Analyst gave Charlotte a deep understanding of Engage which led to her role of Product Manager. As such, Charlotte is responsible for the delivery of plans to see the product grow and embrace the future needs of our Engaged schools.
Support Manager - Engage MIS
Support Manager - Engage MIS
Philip Gibbons joined HQ’s Support department as Manager MIS Support in January 2019. ‘Customer focus is fundamental demanding knowledgeable and prompt resolution of issues.' Philip brings 30 years’ IT experience in hardware, field engineering, and managing support teams from small to large IT companies including Unilever. With the last 12 years supporting IT in private schools, Philip has an excellent grasp of the frustrations and pressures users face.
Support Manager - Fees and Accounts
Carole's career began in accounts and IT Support before becoming a Bursar in a fee-paying school. Given Carole's wide and knowledgeable experience, she joined Double First. Carole has responsibility for delivering world-wide support for Engage Fees and Accounts, always aiming to be well within the published SLA.
Joining the team in September 2008 and working in the Support and Training teams, Miriam is now the Global Training Manager leading the team of Engage and Engage Accounts Trainers. Miriam’s background is post-compulsory education and training. Outside work Miriam enjoys running, horse-riding and time outdoors.
Chief Executive Officer
As the CEO of Double First Ltd and its subsidiaries, one of which is Engage, South Africa, Barry is responsible for all associated businesses in the UK and worldwide, bringing over 20 years experience to the Board. Barry is married to Charlotte and has two children. In his spare time, Barry enjoys running, golf and reading.
Group Sales Director
Richard joined du Pré plc, one of the du Pré group companies in 1993 as their first specialist IT salesman. IBM trained, and experienced in Wide Area Networking, Richard developed the Group’s IT Sales, ultimately taking responsibility in 2007 for Engage’s customer growth to the Middle East, SE Asia and Australia. Richard is a firm believer in long term, person to person business relationships.
Group Finance Director
Kieran is the longest standing member of the Double First team, having joined in 1993. With 24 years in the industry, Kieran is an expert in management information systems for fee-paying schools. Kieran is a Chartered Accountant and has a First Class Honours degree in Computer Science and Operational Research. Although Kieran is the Group Finance Director, his role mainly involves heading up the UK and European sales teams.
Kim has been with the team since 2008 and worked closely with Engage in South Africa since its inception. A specialist in personnel development, change management and marketing, he also has a keen interest working with youth and school performance art groups in the field of lighting design and technical theatre
