ISASA SAHISA conference, Herschel School for Girls 2017

Mr. Lebogang Montjane, Executive Director, addresses the ISASA SAHISA conference at Herschel School for Girls 2017

For the fourth year running, Engage was pleased to exhibit at all three of the key 2017 ISASA conferences held for Heads, Deputy Heads, and Bursars.

Sponsoring and Speaking

With Engage sponsoring the events, Piers du Pré (Founder and Director) spoke at the Heads’ and Bursars’ conferences. With the previous year’s Heads’ conference being centred on Communication, Piers broke radio silence in his 15 minute address and spoke of his late sister, Jacqueline du Pré, the ‘cellist, and how she ‘spoke’ through her ‘cello. Even if you were in an audience of thousands, you would have believed Jackie was speaking directly and only to you as she played.

Making music? Flying?

This year, Piers reminded the audience of one his late sister’s sayings that, ‘Anyone can make music technically accurately, but can that person make music?’

Having started his professional career in 1979 as a pilot with BOAC (the UK government’s overseas airline which was later renamed British Airways) Piers ended his address by asking two key questions.

“Does your school’s management information system enable your school to make music? Yet more than that, does it enable your school to fly?”
